Button Functions on an Akai MPC Drum Machine
This is D.J. Brasby here for Expert Village. We are going to go over the basic features and parts of the MPC. Up here you have your screen; that’s where it gives you all the information where you are working off of. These are your F keys and each F key corresponds with a button on the screen. This is our data wheel. This is the main screen button and you can get back to the main screen from wherever you are just by hitting that. Open window allows you to have more features for each field. These are our numbers and each number has a corresponding name with underneath that if you hit shift for example shift 5 takes you trim, shift 6 takes you to program. They will give you other functions you can perform. This is your slider bar. These are your play, stop and record keys. These are your pads where your sounds will be stored. You got four level and 16 levels, which will go over later and your pad banks. There are four pad banks and 16 pads. So essentially four times 16 is as many sounds you can put in and this is your record gain and your volume right here.
