What is Salt Rising Bread?
Hello my name is Jenny Bardwell and I'm here on behalf of Expert Village with my colleague Susan Brown and we are going to teach you today how to make salt rising bread. Here is a loaf of finish salt rising bread fresh out of the oven and as you can see it has that flat top that Susan was describing. We would slice cut a slice for you in a little bit. It is different from sour dough bread because the starter for salt rising bread is made with heat about 100 degrees Fahrenheit, about 38 degrees centigrade. It's a combination of primarily bacteria, some wide yeast for sure wide bacteria where sour dough is primarily yeast with some mixture of bacteria in it.
