Hi! This is David Jackel on behalf of Expert Village and I'm here to talk to you about picking up David Bowie mannerisms to go along with your costume. As you can see, my costume is finished. I look a little different than I did at the start of this video, but the costume isn't complete because I haven't yet adopted the mannerisms of David Bowie. If you want a really convincing appearance, you have to also act and speak like David Bowie. To do this, you need a guide. I picked up the Ziggy Stardust movie so I could see how he walked, how he spoke to the audience, how he carried himself, how he moved, the facial expressions he has. Even his smile, which is a bit toothy because he's got the bad British dentistry. I don't recommend messing up your teeth, but one thing you can do is smile like this a little more. If you don't want to go out and buy a video, you can find them on Youtube. That's always very easy. Also, listen to David Bowie's music if you're going to be doing any singing. He tends to end high notes with a little bit of a shriek. Otherwise, he's a bit nasally when he sings. Also, if you practice in front of a mirror. This is very helpful, as I'm doing as I prepare for a performance, think about how he moves. His movements are both fluid and jerky. He does a lot of gesturing and his movements are very effeminate. If you really, really want to get David Bowie's down, practice in front of a mirror once a day, watch video, and then try and reenact what he's doing in front of the mirror. Do your best to really feel like you're actually him in that costume.
