This is Bill Macpherson for Expert Village in this clip I'm going to show you how to record a software instrument. Now of course to record a software instrument your going to need some sort of midi controller we have a midi keyboard hooked up to this computer. If your track is recorded enabled hit it on your midi controller you should be able to hear the sound. You can see we have a grand piano setup here, we're going to change that to drums so we're going to go down here to our track info, select drum kits and let's choose the jazz kit. You can see it loading up if you go back here to the track you can see our jazz kit is there, we click on the keyboard you can hear our drums so now we're pretty ready to record. Just go down to your transport hit the record button you'll hear a four count and your ready to record (playing) hit stop you can see it recording a couple of bars for us. You can play that back (playing) and that's how you record a software instrument in garageband, I'm Bill Macpherson for Expert Village.
