Respecting Property in Trick or Treating

Hello, my name is Matt Cail on behalf of expertvillage.com, I'm here today to talk about trick or treating safety. Another thing to keep in mind while trick or treating is to respect private property. Just because it's Halloween it doesn't give anyone the right to suddenly ignore private property. If the owner of that property is not into Halloween, it gives them another reason to gripe and to dislike the holiday and you don't want to give Halloween a bad repetition. Even if the person is into Halloween, they still won't care for children or even adults running across their lawn, even if they're coming right to their door to get candy. You're more likely to even get more candy if you respect private property, so it's a double incentive in addition to respecting the law. In addition, when you're going off of the sidewalks and off the paths, it'll be easy to miss things and in yards, there might be a chuckhole, there could be some bushes you don't see, there even could be a very territorial dog. So it's best to try to stick to the sidewalk, stick to the pathways that people have laid out and set up for trick or treaters and to make sure that you respect private property. I know if it was your own home you would appreciate that and try to return the favor for whenever you're out there for this next Halloween season.
