How to Light a Jack-O-Lantern

Hi this is Shana Bethune and on behalf of Expert Village and I'm going to talk to you about putting a candle in your pumpkin. Now the best type of candle to use for a pumpkin is a tea light like this one here. It is low and it has a white base so it would stand fairly easily on it's own. Before you place the candle in the pumpkin you have to cut a whole which is roughly the diameter of the base in the bottom of the pumpkin. To do this use a medium knife and just cut into the flesh of the pumpkin. Don't cut all the way through cause you still have to have some pumpkin left over so the candle does not fall through the bottom. Once you have cut a circle that is about circumference of the candle take a spoon and dig out the inside of the circle. Another thing that I recommend is finding a holder for you tea light They are very cheap you can find them in most hardware store, grocery stores, any sort of place like that. Because even though on it's own a tea light is not very likely to spill. This just adds some extra security. Plus it is weighted so when the wind blows nothing is going to get knocked over. So take your candle place it in the hole that you have created and then you are ready to light it. I usually use a lighter just because it is especially if you are lighting it outside and it is windy it is not going to blow out it just makes things easier when you are reaching into the pumpkin. There you go.
