Transferring Designs onto Halloween Pumpkins

Hi this is Shana Bethune and on behalf of Expert Village and I'm going to talk to you about transferring your design to your pumpkin without drawing on it's skin. So in order to do this you are going to have to take the design that you settled on and 2 thumb tacks and choose a side of you pumpkin that is flat and smooth. Once you have found that tack the piece of paper you have your design on, onto your pumpkin. Sometime 2 thumb tacks is good enough but for something like this where it is very round it is good to have a 3rd one at the base so you design stays in place. Once it is on there and pretty secure take a small knife, hold down one section I'm going to start with this eye up here and just push in to the design a little bit you are basically going to make a dotted line of cuts around each line of your design. This would serve as a guide for when you actually start covering into it. It may take a little while to do this but the benefit is that you will have a perfect guide when you are done and you won't have to worry about marking up the surface of your pumpkin. Once you finish that eye you can move on to the 2nd one. The other benefit to transferring the design this way is that you can have the exact design that you have drew right on your pumpkin. So once you have marked off the entire designed you can take the thumb tacks out. Now as you would see you have lines to guide you while you are carving.
