Types of Garnishes for German Potato Salad

Hey guys, my name is J, and I'm talking to you on behalf of Expert Village. On this clip I'm going to talk to you about garnishes. Now, a garnish is something that you'd put on top of your food, or on the plate. Extra, set aside to your food. And this is to make the plate look nice and pretty. When you're working with garnishes, you want to work with stuff that has a good flavor, and a good color, and possibly a good texture. Now for texture and color, as you can see on my little plate of goodies here, I'm going to use these crispy bacon strips as a nice beautiful contrast to the potatoes as far as color and texture. Now we got ourselves a little bit of green onion, a little green onion as you can see here, they're really small pieces of green onion, which is going to give us a nice crunch, a nice color, and also a nice taste. Also we have some chopped up flat-leafed parsley. This is also going to give us a nice color, and a nice flavor. Also what I'm going to do, is use some baby spinach. This spinach is pre-washed, it's in a bag, and what I'm going to do is lay this down on the plate and put the potatoes on top of it. Alright, that is basically it for garnishes. You can become creative with this part of the video, you can do what you want. If you want to use instead of bacon, like I said, for vegetarians, they probably would not want the bacon, I'm almost 100% positive. What you can use is, maybe some breaded onions that they sell that are already pre-cooked. Or you can do your own, and kind of just top them on top of the potato just like that. You can use a variety of things. You can become creative with this. If you want to use paprika, and kind of sprinkle that around, and kind of give it that nice red color that paprika has, you can do that. It's up to you; this is your dish. Remember, I'm just giving you a little recipe here and I'm giving you a head start on the game, and once you get your knowledge in cooking, you can do your own stuff. Basically, the world is yours in cooking. It's all creativity. Once you learn, I look forward to hearing from you. That is it for the garnish section of this clip. Thank you.
