How to Edit Loops: GarageBand Tutorial

Hi this is David Jackel on behalf of Expert Village and I'm here to talk to you about editing loops in garageband. Now garageband is belt on loops, loops are the parts that repeat over and over again and editing them therefore is very important. There's two main ways to do this so one thing you can do is double click on the loop and then take a look here and you can move apart the note where ever you want. So I'm going to solo this and take a listen (playing) maybe what I want to do is take this last note and move it up here. Now the loop has changed so if I click here and do the loop all repetitions will have that same change that I just made. However there are other ways you can edit a loop one thing you can do is actually cut the loop in half, let's say I like the first half of the part but I don't like the second so I cut it in half I put my marker here, I do apple T, now it's cut in half. Then I get rid of the second half, I click it, I delete it now it's gone, now what I can do is take this segement here I can use a loop function here and drag, and now I actually have a different loop. (playing) So as you can see there are two basic ways to add a loop you can either go into the loop itself and move apart the different notes or you can cut apart the loop and belt the different move out of it. Either way these are the basic building blocks that garageband is made of.
