Hi, This is David Jackel on behalf of Expert Village and I am here to talk to you about recording audio on garage band. Now before you start to record audio on garage band the first thing you have to do is find a way to get from your audio instrument into the computer. Now there are several different ways to do this. One of them is to go directly into the computers input jack which is right over here. A better option is to us a fire wire audio interface. Which I have right here. With my fire wire audio interface I plug in here and the signal travels from here by fire wire directly into the computer and that gives me strong very clear signal. Once you're all connected it's time to create a track. So click on track and choose new track. You get an option between a software instrument track and a real instrument track. Stick with real instrument track because that's the audio. Hit create. Now you've got your track. Now before you can start recording you have to choose your input source and you have to put your monitor on. So you go down here click an input source, I'm using Mono 2. This gives me sound in both left and right. And I have my monitor on so I can hear myself playing my guitar. This button down here starts recording and you will hear a count in and you will hear the metronome then you can start recording along. So hit record and wait for the metronome to start. Then whenever you are ready start playing along. Hit the space bar to stop recording and now you have your audio track.
