The next thing I’m going to demonstrate for you is called the hop turn. What a hop turn does is it helps you change directions on the step. So you’re starting this way, we’re going to start the hop turn on our right leg. Go ahead and place that right foot on the floor. Heel toe first, entire foot on the platform. When you’re hopping around the step, you’re going to go in the direction that you are facing. This is the correct full hop turn. My right foot is on the step, I’m going to hop and step down. Left hop turn is going to go in the opposite direction. My left heel is on the platform, I’m going to go in the direction that I’m facing, and I’m going to hop around stepping on the bench. It is incorrect to hop behind your body, because you can’t see where you are going. You must hop in front of you, in the direction that you’re going. Here we are, right foot on the bench, left knees comes up, hop, and exit. Left foot on the bench, right knee is going to come up, hop, and exit. Take it easy, get the hang of it, hop around, that is it, and exit. Perfect. You can look at that bench if you need to make sure that your foot stays on that step. Up… good… perfect.
