Hello, this is Rob Rubin and you're watching Expert Village. This episode we're going to talk about a problem that I see a lot of new players get and a lot of experienced players get it too, more often than they like to admit. It's called tunnel vision or as I like to call it having the gun blinders on. It works like this; you're in a shootout, you see the guy you're suppose to be shooting at, you're really gunning for him, you really want this guy, you're just getting so close, you can see the balls just right over the guy's head and meanwhile you're so focused on your guy and all the cool stuff is happening like over here and you never see it. Because you're so looking at your guy, your guy has got to go out. That's why it's called tunnel vision, you're looking at the one dude. I call it the gun blinders becuase it always happen when people start shooting. The minute they stop shooting, they're looking around saying what's going on, what's going on? The only way to really breakout the tunnel vision is to be aware that it's happening and to stop shooting and look around. Or, keep shooting and yell to a teammate, hey what's going on on the flank, what's going on over here? But I do have a drill that does help you break yourself out of tunnel vision. Let me show you. This drill is actually really easy and it's really a lot of fun to do. Behind me I have the target setup, it's the bottles hanging from the trees. I have three of them spaced apart at various angles. What I'm going to do is start by facing away from the targets, I'm then going to turn around and take three shots at each target. It doesn't matter if I hit or miss the targets, I'm just going to be taking three shots, three shots, three shots. The idea is to train yourself to think in multiple angles, not just looking at one target constantly, you're going to be looking at least three and anticipating your move to the first to the second to the third. Hopefully like this. Needs more practice. Another way that you can do the same drill is that when you turn around, take a knee or when you turn around, go all the way down to prone. That way you're practicing shooting from multiple positions and you're getting used to shooting at multiple targets from multiple styles of shooting. If you can get a friend to help you out, this drill even gets more fun. As you're facing away from the target, your friend is going to yell out three turns; left right center; center center left; left right center. You have to turn around and hit the targets in that order within each three shot bursts. It's not easy, but again you're learning how to shoot multiple angles and now you're doing it with a little bit of pressure. You're noticing all of these drills, I'm not behind cover, because that's not the point to this drill. The point to this drill is to just learn how to look at the angles. You can of course do this behind cover, behind the bunkers of some kind, but it's not necessary. You're just trying to learn part of the skill, you're just trying to learn one small segment of it. It's one of the big skills of the game, if you can do this, you can keep your field awareness up, you can kind of know what's going on around you and then you can pick and choose your targets based on which one looks more dangerous than the other.
