Using a Water Brush to Color in an Open Stamp
Hi! I am Shelly Cordsen from Expert Village.com. We are rubber stamping with an open stamp and showing coloring methods. This method, we will be using the water brush, which is a brush which we have put water in,. We squeeze it and water will come to the brush, as you can see comedown on my hands. Okay, if you do not have a water brush just use a real cheap paint brush in a little dish of water and talking about water brush you can color this by just using plain old water colors that you can buy or that you buy for your kids and you just start filling it in and give it a very water colored look. You just want to make sure you don’t get too much water or your paper will start bubbling. Okay, another method is to take your ink pads that you used for rubber stamping and if you squeeze some of that ink and get it on the top of your ink pad, there is another pallet to use. Just rub your brush into that and then start coloring again. And this will really give you a lot lighter effect than if I was actually stamping with that ink pad, but it just gives it a very soft look. Just using water in your regular ink and then again we will get a little bit of water in there and we can use chalk. Just put a little bit of water into your chalk and we start coloring with our chalk and you will get a even lighter and then when it dries it will give you a kind of a powdery look. But see how real soft that is compared to the actual color. My favorite is watercolor pencils you can buy them at any department store and she is going to be multicolored here, now we are going to go with orange. You tend to really outline and color the edges of the pants and to give it a real water colored look just take your brush and pull that color into the center and your edges will just look shadowed and just very pretty. Again, don’t over do it and get too much water on there. And once again I have just showed you four different ways to use water in coloring your stamps.
