How to Determine Lightener Based on Natural Hair Color

Hi! My name is Jan Cuni. I'm a professional hairstylist and hair colorist. I work for Plaza Salon in Paramus. I'm here on behalf of Expert Village. Her hair, her base color right now, is like level 7. So because she' pretty light, we're now going to be very light. We're not looking for blonde white highlights. We're just looking for something natural. That's why I use plenty of volume. There will be plenty for her color, for her base to lighten through the highlight we're looking for. 20 will be perfect. If she decides she wanted to be blonde, then I have to use 25 or 30 volume, which will process very fast to a lighter stage, or we can use, let's say if she was darker I would have to use 30 or 35 volume to reach the desired highlight you're looking for. In this case, 20 volume is just right.
