Best Equipment for Making a Gravel Road

This is Ben Ingham with Expert Village to talk to you about putting in a gravel road. If you know what a maintainer is, where they actually build roads, the county builds them or you see the highway crews going down and making the interstate highways, they have huge box blades and they have things that will move huge amounts of dirt from one side and will dump it out and smooth it out and go. But, they have what's called a maintainer that has wheels way out front and way out back and very wide blade and they will move stuff over and they will just simply move stuff back and forth and that's massive, huge equipment for making huge highways. I'm talking about just a little road there. I found the box blade to be more efficient for my needs that a blade like this, which would actually move the gravel out of the way. I wanted to be certain that I kept it in the confines of the road base rather than just letting it go wherever it wanted to go. And I have a small stockpile left over at the end of this road, which is just fine because it will be great for filling in or making another road, cause I'll need other little gravel roads going in to the houses and the out buildings and the barns eventually. Okay, well, that's all I have to say about road building at this time, and it's not much of a road, it's a little rustic gravel road, that's coming in to our property. It's only wide enough for one car at a time. Somebody else would have to get out of the way, I'm not talking about building a highway. If you want to build a highway, you need to go to the experts and let them build it. If you want to build a gravel road, do it yourself and enjoy it.
