Overview of Making a Paperback Book Caddy

Hi! I'm Karen for Expert Village. Today I'm going to show you how to make 2 paperback book caddies. The first one will be made by machine and the second one we'll make completely by hand without using any sewing machine. We'll also be making this bedside book caddy. For this project we'll be needing 10 inches of sew in Velcro. You need both sides the hook and the loop side. I cut those into 2 1/2 inch pieces, so four 2 1/2 inch pieces. When you go to buy it you need 10 inches, or you can buy a foot. We'll need one yard of a nice, heavy ribbon. This is grosgrain ribbon. That's a good choice. This ribbon is about 1 inch ribbon. Then a foot of a thinner ribbon, and you can make anything you want. I've also used a grosgrain, but you can use anything pretty that you want. We're going to use this as the bookmark in our book caddy. You'll need a piece of fabric 18 inches by 16 inches. If you buy a half a yard of fabric at any fabric store, you'll have enough to make a couple book covers.
