Sweeping & Cleaning to Paint a Living Room

Hello, my name is Grady Johnson, I'm a professional painter and today I represent Expert Village.com. Okay, now that we've moved everything there is a lot of trash, dust, cobwebs and just plain filth like on these walls and on the floor. So you need to work with gravity. Start at the top and start bringing everything down. So the first thing you need to do is get your broom, at least something you can reach with, and start knocking down the cobwebs on the ceiling. Take them off, they look ugly when they get in your paint and don't forget the ceiling, too, and just knock all those down. And you want to continue this way all the way down the wall taking those down like that. And it's just that simple, you're actually going to sweep down this whole wall. You see the stuff coming off there that's clinging on this wall. Alright, now we're going to go ahead and get the tops, don't forget the ceiling too. A lot of stuff just hangs up there as well, if you see something up there, get it down. Now you see the tops of these door jams are real important. Eventually we're just going to hit that with our duster before we paint but we want to go ahead and get the excess off now. A lot of this stuff is going to start falling down so you work your way with gravity from the top and work your way down. Alright, Okay, now once you've wiped all that down, you pretty much go by eye, then just go ahead and take it down to the other end as well. Now, we've got the wall, we've got the tops of the jams, we got the sides of the jams, and we got the tops of the baseboards so now all we need to do is sweep up the floor and take it all out. Okay, now that we've gotten everything off of the baseboards we want to start moving all of this stuff up and just sweep it on up. Once I've done this all the way around the room then I'm going to go back over everything with my duster and see what I've missed. But this is how you sweep and dust and prepare a room for painting.
