Hi, I'm Grady Johnson, I'm a professional painter and today I represent Expert Village.com. Okay, now we're going to go ahead and get this room ready for painting. Now you're going to find the first half of this series is nothing but prep work and that's what painting is. The better you prep it the better the paint job's going to look. So, the first thing we're going have to do is clear the walls. Now clearing the walls means getting all of the hardware and stuff that's hanging on there. That is pictures, stereo speakers and even blinds like you see here. Now, with the speakers, they're attached to a stereo, we don't want to disconnect those because they're going to go back up there so we're just going to pull those on into our electronic area. And with the pictures we're going to go ahead and stack those. Now, when you find little knick knacks and things that are laying around your house that are up on things, you're going to want to remove those completely out of the room before you start your covering because if it's fragile you don't want to leave it in there to get damaged. So let's go ahead and get started clearing our walls. First off let's get these speakers and this clock. And this is real easy, just grab them and set them on the table we're going to be moving later. This is battery powered, it's independent, and I'm going to go ahead and grab this picture as well. Now these items aren't going to get damaged, it's not that fragile if I just lay it on a table. I have a really big coffee table I'm going to put it on and then cover over it, so I'm going to go ahead and do that now. And of course I'm going to go around, I'm going to move this screen out, all these little knick knacks I'm going to put those in the middle as well. Now, the last thing I kind of want to go over before we move on is to show you a little bit about blinds. Now these are real heavy ones so they're a great example. Most of the time mini blinds are much much smaller and you're not going to see a whole lot on them, but with this, these are the real heavy duty ones so you're going to have to get a little help to help you move it. So I'm going to have my buddy, Genaro, come in. But, the first thing you need to do before you pop anything loose, pull the blinds all the way up out of your way. Now, that's just this string here, and this one's pretty heavy so you're going to have to work with it a little bit. But go ahead and get it all the way to the top. And then you get your buddy to hold the other end. Okay, so you just want to pop your knife in here and pop this clip loose and have you're buddy do the same on the other side. Then you just want to go ahead and pull that loose. Once you got it down just set it down on the couch. Yeah, boy that things a lot heavier than it looks. Well, we've gotten the blinds down and I've gotten the speaker, I'm going to grab this other speaker over here and I'm going to work my way around the room until I clear all of the stuff off the walls. Now remember, if you can paint over a screw and it's okay, it's going to hang over it again, don't worry about it, just paint over it. Otherwise, just yank that thing out of there, spackle it up and you can always put another screw in there if you need to. But, this is how you clear the walls to get the room ready for paint.
