Hi! My name is Mike Larney from the band Naked Underneath, and on behalf of Expert Village I am going to talk about tuning with different devices that can help you out when you are starting out. One of the first ones and probably one of the easiest is a device like this, and there is a needle here, you would plug in from the cord from your guitar, you place it into the input jack that is located on the side, and when you tune your A string, say for example, the needle will come up to 440, and when it is directly in the middle there you will know that it will say A here, and you will know it is in the middle there, so that one is in tune, and you could follow that same procedure all the way through all the strings to make sure that you are in tune. You could also have something similar to this one here, which is a foot pedal, which would also be located between your guitar and the amp. You put the cord from your guitar to the input side, and then put the output side to go to your amp, so this way you can tune while you are playing. And then this one here also has just like the needle, it will work that way with lights, on the LED, or you can also work it as a strobe. Strobe tuners were popular back in the days. They just use the light to express whether the note was in tune, so that would work… when you are on A, it would say A in this blue LED here, and it would just spin and when it is in tune it will slow down and it will stop, so that is an example of a strobe tuner and a foot pedal. And then one that I like is a tuning fork, and the reason that I like this is because I can use this wherever I am, whether I am on acoustic or electric guitar. In the studio, if you hit the tuning fork and you place it to your ear, on your earphones, and the magnet inside the earphones will give the A, which is helpful. But it is just easier to carry around than one of the foot pedals, basically what this is going to do is, when you hit it using acoustic guitar just to amplify a little bit, as I hit it, and then we have the tune that I want to match with the A string. Now I guess you could get a different tuning fork for each individual string, on how you want it, but in the later clip we will show you how we can tune to ourselves, so if I start off with the A that will be good all the way through.
