Electric Guitar Fretboard Notes
Hi! My name is Mike Larney from the band Naked Underneath, and on behalf of Expert Village I am going to go over some basic note in the guitar. We will start off, we talked about, I think previously, that all the open strings typically go E, A, D, G, B and E again. Now if we just look at one string and the way that it changes as it moves up the guitar, what happens is, we get from E, and if we can work up the entire scale until we get to the 12th fret, which has these double dots typically, and that is the octave of A. So now, as we get in when you are trying to place chords, you will notice that E, F, F, start G, is the beginning of your D chord and in addition A, A sharp, B, C is the top of your C chord or A is the top of your A chord, and in addition, when you do bar chords where you have G, A, and E, butt up the octave. So knowing some basics about the notes in the guitar will help you work out some of those chords when you are in your jam circles.
