How to Play The Money Game

My name is Courtney on behalf of Expert Village and in this clip I'm going to show you a math you can play using just your spare change, it's called race to a dollar. Your going to need a piece of paper and we're going to divide it into three sections. Once I've folded my paper I'm going to draw a line on the creases and in the first section I'm going to draw ten dots and again in the middle section I'm also going to draw ten dots, and then over in my last section I'm just going to draw five dots. This first section is for our pennies, the second section is going to be for dimes, and this last section will be for dollars. You could play to where you're only racing to one dollar, or here I've made places for five dollars, if you wanted to play multiple times to get to five dollars. The first thing you're going to need is to get te n pennies, ten dimes, and then a dice. If you're going to be playing where you're getting more than a dollar you might want to have some dollar bills. You can use spare change around your house or you can go to the store and buy some play money. The first thing you're going to do is you're going to roll the dice and you've gotten a four. You put that many pennies down and then we roll again, or the next person would roll, and again they get a four, so they'd put down that many. I rolled a five so I put down five pennies. It would be the next person's turn and then my turn again. And this time I rolled a five, well I put down one more penny and now I've earned a dime, I've earned ten cents, so I trade in all my pennies for a dime, but now I have four dots that I've got left, so one, two, three, four. And you would play like this until you win ten dimes and than you trade those in for a dollar. And, that's why it's called race to a dollar.
