Chest Press Exercise With Dumbbells

The next exercise that I’m going to demonstrate for you is the chest press with dumbbells. The difference between this one and the flat bench…it’s still a free weight, but only one arm is working at a time. You have a weight on each hand so you can equally work both arms. It requires a little bit more balance and control so make sure that you pace yourself. Very important to keep your abs pulled into your spine, and not to overarch your back. Again, you can place your feet on the floor; you can place your feet on the foot bar of the machine or you can place your feet on the pad. Go ahead and grab your dumbbells. You’re going to lie flat down on the bench. Head, neck, and back in one line. Navel to spine. Arms out to the side so that your wrists are over your elbows. Elbows even with your shoulders and exhale press. Inhale lower and exhale press. Very good. Inhale and exhale. Bring those weights together to ensure that you’re getting the full range of motion. Make sure that you have a loose grip on the handles. Exhale. Inhale and exhale. Very good. Exhale press. Inhale.
