Having a Mission Statement for a Non-Profit Organization

Hi! This is Jim Goettler with Expert Village and this is a video about how to form and operate a non-profit organization. One of these documents you are going to need to develop called a mission statement. A mission statement is just that. It says to the world who you are? Where you want to go and how you want to get there? It says it in a very clear and simple way that the potential funders and community at large is going to understand. The riskiest thing that can change every year they often involve new board members come on and new staff people give input or is a situation which you work can change. An artistic rhythm may change as the style and mode of organizations shift a little bit. It is something to look upon I guess as a living document. It will ride with the organization forever. So be careful do it well, be careful and do it right. It is a very powerful document, it's the mission statement and everyone is going to want to see it. In the next segment, we are going to touch on bringing staff into organization. It's a big move, essential move and fun move. Stay with me.
