Hi, this is Linda Lewis on behalf of Expert Village.com. Check out my website at www.keytime.com. What is a key guard? There are many things to do to help you break the habit of looking at the keys and you can use a method if you seem to feel like when your hands are on the home row and you are moving your fingers and you keep looking down there are things that you can do to try to help. You can take a towel and place it over the keyboard so that you are on the home position and this works some what so that you can actually move and your hands can be moving without looking down this way. Some times you will find that this will not stay on, so depending on the size of the towel but that is one method. Another one that I used to use when I was teaching in a classroom before I found out about the key guard that I will show you is to place tape on a piece of paper and then your hands go under the keys. This is just a reminder that you do not need to look down. Some of the problems that people found and did not like this was they were flipping the paper up because you have little tiny hairs on the back of your hand and by having that touch it was bothering some of the students. The one that I found that is wonderful is a product that is a key guard and this is a cardboard part that will fit under any keyboard and this is raised up so that your blocked from where your hands are and then you can actually see it to put your fuzzy dots; your fingers on your fuzzy dots and then it enables you to see the text and doing whatever you are doing and being able to have that raised up. The teacher in the classroom is able to look at the hands and see how the students are working with their finger pads and keeping their hands on the home keys. If you are just using it at home, it is one that is very easy to use so that you are not having anything touch your hands. So this is the one that I would definitely recommend.
