How to Use Preventic Flea & Tick Control

I’m Dr. Greg McDonald and I am here for Expert Village.com and we are talking about how to control fleas and ticks in your dogs and cats. This is a product that is exclusively for dogs and it is nice in a way because people can use it as they want to when they see a problem with their pet. Again, this is one of those products that we do not want to use on a cat since it will make them sick. It is called Preventic and it has permethrins in it and permethrins is something that can be toxic to cats and again we have lots of different choices to use. This one is really good. If you don’t want to put a product on your dog or cat all the time, you can put on when you see a tick or when you see when your dog has fleas. Once again, it is a spray on and so you spray it over the whole dog and this one does go into the fur and then you mix it in with their fur and comb it out to be sure that it covers all the surfaces. Again, every time you use a product with your pet it is always a good idea to watch them for an hour or two and be sure they are not getting sick from it. This one is very effective but has to be used judiciously because you don’t want to have your cat exposed to this product. Again, that is called Preventic and it is good for those ticks and fleas that you actually see on the pet.
