How to Pick Speakers for Home Theater Systems

Hi, this is ExpertVillage.com we're at Leigh Adams Discount Sales and my name is Daniel Daly. Today we're going to be demonstrating how to set up your perfect home theater, be it a little screen, LCD, Big LP's, even giant screens on the wall. You have your selection of smaller towers, larger towers, book shelf speakers, satellite speakers, these you can hide in the corner, by the way, or on the wall. You have in ceiling speakers, with a grill, without the grill, same speaker. You have in walls, which are not demonstrated in this room but you might have seen out there. And that's only the first set up. There's many things that determine how great your audio is. The gage of speaker wire, the impedence of the speaker, and when I say impedence, the biggest question I always get is, How many watts do these speakers have? And honestly, that 's probably the worst question you can ask when looking at a speaker system. Watts has nothing to do with how great the speaker sounds it's merely a marketing tool. What you want to know is the impedence, how many ohms can this take. You have to look at the ohms rating on the speakers, be it four, six, eight or some other odd number, the lower the better.
