Best Angles for Photographing Children
Hi, my name is Ed Cody and on behalf of ExpertVillage.com, I am going to talk to you a little bit about the correct height or angle to use when you are trying to photograph your child. You can go on our website codyharris.com and see some examples on what I am talking about. The main thing to remember is this, if you want to get a nature looking portrait then get down on your child’s level. The key word is this, eye level. If you can get your camera at their eye level you are going to get a portrait that I think you will enjoy a lot more. You will not be shooting down at their head or perhaps if you are too low a lot of times you are shooting up into their nostrils. So eye level is a preferred way to be. This may cause sometimes for you to get down on your hands and knees if they are playing around. Sometimes you are going to be chasing them but you have got to bend down and you have got to get your camera to where it is at least at their eye level or maybe just a little bit lower. Too low is not good and too high again will not give you a good portrait, get yourself to your child’s level and you will find out instantly one more time using these simple techniques that we are talking about will give you a portrait that all of a sudden looks much better than what you were doing before. So remember get yourself and your camera to your child’s eye level.
