Using Specifics In Improvisational Comedy

On behalf of Expert Village, this is Paul Zuckerman with the cast of Chicago City Limits here in New York City, and today we're going to you some techniques for improvisational comedy. They say generality is the enemy of art. It's certainly the case in improvisation. It's much better to express a thought or an idea using a specific than a generality Let's see what happens when these actors just use generalities. It's an amazing painting. Yeah, I guess so. It's got a lot of stuff, huh? Yeah, nothing is going to cheer me up right now Al. Let's go back to that art museum, and let's see what happens when they're discussing things more specifically. Daga, right? Ordinarily when I see those ballerinas in their lemon chiffon poof dresses it just cheers me up, but all my toenails just fell because I've been swimming so much. Yeah, but that's the whole the thing. The art right there, the pain's right there, and the yellows. My feet are yellow, Al.
