Don't Break Reality In Improvisational Comedy

On behalf of Expert Village this is Paul Zuckerman with the cast of Chicago City Limits here in New York City, and today we're going to you some techniques for improvisational comedy. There's an expression in show business; If you buy the premise, you'll buy the bit. That means that whatever we create on stage the audience will accept, but it's a very fragile reality, especially with improvisers where we're usually with a bare stage. If we break that reality, we may get a laugh just because we broke the reality, but we’ve lost a certain continuality with the audience, which is very hard to regain. Let's see what happens when reality gets broken. I think this the perfect color for this concrete wall. Well, it sure beats all the graffiti that was all over it before. Yea, I think so too. Hey everybody, I got some pizza. Who wants some pizza? Alright, thank you. You just walked right through a wall. You must be like some kind of superhero or something. Oh, I don't know. I just brought some soda. You want some soda?
