How To Justify A Comedy Scene

On behalf of Expert Village, this is Paul Zuckerman with the cast of Chicago City Limits here in New York City, and today we're going to show you some techniques for improvisational comedy. When improvising a scene, it's important to justify what the other actor has given you, not just accepted but add to it. It's a lot like yes anding, but it's adding extra meaning to what the actor has said. Let's take a look at that. Ah man, I don't know about this suicide pact. I'm having second thoughts. Well, you've gotta do what you gotta do. You said you would drink it. I drank it an hour ago, now you have to drink it. Hour ago? You're not dead yet. It takes an hour and a half. Oh, alright. Here it goes. Sike! Sike what? I didn't drink it. Are you kidding me? I'm going to dry in an hour and half! Yup. Well, probably actually closer to an hour. What? I only have an hour now! Well, yea, yea. You're drinking the rest of this. There's a little bit left. No way man! No way. It's my backwash poison. No way. Say that again.
