Training Myth of Dangerous Dog Breeds

On behalf of Expert Village, I'm Carlos Puentes with K-9 Solutions Dog Training in Miami, Florida, and today we're going to talk about dog training myths from my new book, Who's Training Whom? Myth number 8: police, K-9 dogs, German Sheppard, Rottweiler. I don't want my baby around these kind of dogs. It's crazy. In fact, a protective dog, a dog that's trained properly for protection is probably a more stable dog than one that hasn't even been trained properly for protection or hasn't been trained at all. In other words, there's good and bad in all types of dogs just like people. It's the Pitbulls that kill the babies and the Rottweiler. Any dog can cause you a problem. They have the same K-9 ease as any other dog, whether they're small, chubby, big, long, tall. Right buddy? They all need to be trained the right way. So, it's not the breed, it's just the requirements of that breed may need, the specific requirements. Some are high energy, some aren't, some are stubborn, so it's not just the breed. It's the breeding and properly selecting the dog and training them properly.
