Learn the History of Guts Frisbee

This is Ryan Scott from the Boontown Saints on behalf of Expert Village. In this clip, we are going to talk about the history and like what Guts is all about. Guts started off at a family picnic by the Healy brothers. They had an insurance company and they always had a big picnic up UP of Michigan off of the Ecanaba Pennisula. For the first 10 or so years they had this tournament, they always won. Up until like 1969 or so when it started to get a little more competitive and more teams showed up with new throws and better hands and all sorts of weird shots people have never seen. So when that time came, new people started coming into the game. More spectators started coming and the game just totally evolved from its picnic days and now it is a legitimate sport. Guts Frisbee was actually the very first tournament sport for Frisbee or this sport in general. So it started off there and by 1979 or so, the Guts Players Association was created to help organize all the Guts Frisbee players which was a task in itself. Guts is to score more points than the other team by having great shots. You know whatever shots you throw. Like I say there is a shot for everybo0dy out there because there are so many different types of shots you an throw in Guts. To throw it pass them as to where they can catch them so they can't. The defense you know, the defense wants championship so if you want great hand, eye coordination to catch a Frisbee with one hand, then this is the sport for you.
