How To Decoupage A Candle: Cutting The Paper
Hi! I'm Karen for Expert Village. Now I'm going to show you how to decorate candles with decoupage. These are some wax candles that are coated with a gold coating. They've gotten a little bit banged up over the years. I'm going to cover them with this gold napkin, but you could use anything. Any color or pattern that you like. It doesn't have to be gold. You want to make sure though that because the napkin becomes translucent, if your candles have a color, you want to make sure that it compliments the color when it comes through. When we separate our napkin, you can hold it up to it and make sure that the color compliments it. It will become even a little more see through. If we had like a red candle here, then the color coming through would be red. You want to think about that when you are covering anything colored. First, I'm going to check to see how it would go on. I want to cut it fairly even. Sometimes when you're doing a candle or a pattern that is not so straight, you might want to give it a little bit of waviness so that it doesn't look so glued on straight. It'll look a little bit more natural as you roll it; as you glue it on there. I'm just giving it just a little bit of soft edge instead of a hard straight edge. Now, we're ready to glue it down.
