How to Decoupage A Platter: Gluing the Paper
Hi! I'm Karen for Expert Village. Now, I'm going to set up my platter on a pedestal and I've put my napkin in place where I want it. Now I'm going to use the decoupage glue to adherent to the glass plate. Now, keep in mind that I put the right side so that it's coming up through the glass like this. The back of the napkin is on the back of the platter. You just do this with your finger. You don't use a brush because the napkin is very delicate and you don't want to tear that napkin, so you want to be able to feel it. You also want to work relatively quickly and use a fair amount of the glue as you work. We'll start at the center and you just put a dab of glue and rub that down. Very, very light touch. Don't worry about wrinkling because that's part of the charm of the decoupage is that you get a little of a texture, a little of a wrinkling and just work your way sort of radially. The glue goes through the napkin and adheres to the glass platter. When you get to the side, you just very lightly dab it down. As you're doing this, you're kind of pulling the air bubbles out. It's a very gentle touch.
