How to Use a Dispatcher when Flying a Plane
Hi. I'm Dave Pressy with St. Charles Flying Service on behalf of Expert Village. Be sure to follow the correct procedures for checking out an aircraft from your flight school. For security reasons most flight schools limit access to the aircraft keys. You'll need to check in with the dispatcher prior to beginning your preflight for any lesson or solo flight. Your instructor will show you the proper way to do this. When you arrive for your lesson you'll typically check the schedule to see which aircraft you'll be flying. And request the keys and checklist from the dispatcher. The dispatcher will obtain the keys and other materials for that particular aircraft and hand them to you. Make sure everything is in order and that you have everything you need for the flight. If you do not see the airplane on the ramp or if the airplane needs fuel, oil, a clean windshield or something does not seem right notify dispatch or other line personnel to correct the problem.
