Reasons for Opening an Art Gallery

Hi, this is Christina Varga from the Varga Gallery in Woodstock, New York and today on behalf of Expert Village we’re going to show you how to open and run your own art gallery. So now, why should you do this? Why should you have your own art gallery? The reason you should do this is because it promotes a huge tremendous feeling of love and creativity. People see something that somebody made out of nothing and they want to do it too, or they want to own it, they want to have that, because that moment of creating something out of nothing is the thing that makes an artist an artist. It is the closest we can get to God, we’re making something, look I made this out of nothing. And get your kids to make art, get people to buy art, get people to sell art, get people to want art by showing them beautiful stuff. This is a piece that a parent purchased for his six year old son, this is a piece that mother brought for her five year old son, I mean artists are available to everybody, they’re completely approachable, art is good for kids. It shows kids that making something is not just drawing, it’s actually making something that you put on the wall, it has a worth, it is a product. It isn’t the newest tennis shoe, it’s like something aesthetic that gains value as it gets older, it is an expression of a moment in time, it is the creation in the now and it is something that we all need. It talks about what’s going on politically, it talks about what is going on in people’s hearts and minds. Art always shows what the world is feeling. So if we have a place that shows what the world is feeling we know what is going on. So find your local artists and art galleries and go there. Do it, do it now, you must have art, go get it, run go, get it, do it.
