How To Read & Play A Melody

So we have the whole song pretty much down now so we want to do a quick review to make sure you have everything good. So we want to start right off of the first note for reading through the melody. You start right here on the 5, so you really have to read that pattern up a 3rd, then chromatic down, then chromatic up, then going up by steps, then you have this bebop run. Then back to the first motif, chromatic in a lot of chromatics and bebop runs again and that simple melody starts on the 3 to the 2. Chromatics. So that is a simple look at the melody in how to read through the melody and the most important part to remember is that each line in the staff is a number in the scale and to really have that scale down and to know where how it fits over these measures.
