Okay, on this particular firearm I have here it has what they consider a decocker lever. Okay, now this here would be the slide release. Right here would be the decocker lever. So, what that is actually used for is if this weapon which this is an empty magazine. At this time I am going to dawn and show you there is a clear and safe weapon. There is no rounds in there, there is no rounds in the magazine. What I will do is load this magazine and send the bolt home. As you can see this is in single action mode. It will probably take me exactly five pounds of pressure to make this hammer go home if I fire rounds if there should be one in there, but there is not. This is in single action mode. This is what happens with a single action double action firearm. Now this weapon is ready to fire. Say if I am in an encounter and I don't have to fire my weapon, what do I do? The hammer is to the rear. That's unsafe. This designer has made this decocker lever which is on numerous different weapons and is a feature for many different ones where you can take the guess work out and simply by doing that it sends the hammer home. But there is a plate in there that blocks the firing pin so the hammer doesn't engage which makes the round fire. All the while there is a live round in the chamber. And with the hammer back it will not fire the round because of the way this weapon was designed, which is a really good tool and is used again as a safety feature.
