How to Attract Artists to an Art Gallery

Hi, this is Christina Varga from the Varga Gallery in Woodstock, New York and today on behalf of Expert Village we’re going to show you how to open and run your own art gallery. Now you really want to make money, so then you’ve got to start working on who you’re bringing in. You want to bring in big names if you can, you have to have an insurance policy to cover it or at least let them know that they’re not insured but if you think about it this way, you sold the painting for five thousand dollars, half of five thousand is twenty five hundred, half of five hundred is two fifty, would you rather make twenty five hundred or would you rather make two hundred and fifty. I’d rather make twenty five hundred so I’m going for showing that kind of work, I want to show somebody that has a price, that has gotten it, you’ve got to do some research into your artists and make sure that you can up the ante, get more money and publicize them so that they can make more money, if they’re making more money then you’re making more money. You want to make money, Revolt makes money so I bought Revolt here, Revolt’s going to sell his piece and I make a lot of money off of it and if Dillon sells a piece I make a lot of money off of it. If Team sells a piece I make some cash, but you know if I’m selling twenty-dollar T-shirts, I’m not making that much money.
