How to Use a Guest Book for Promoting an Art Gallery

Hi, this is Christina Varga from the Varga Gallery in Woodstock, New York and today, on behalf of Expert Village we’re going to show you how to open and run your own art gallery. Really easy, simple free ways to get email addresses and to get people interested is to have a lovely guest book. I used to have a whole variety of guest books. I have chosen to go with the leather bound guest book with the gold edges on it, just because I’m trying to go more upscale. My goal is to have people spending between five and ten thousand dollars in my gallery. So I have to have a nice guest book, you can have a ratty tag guest book, but you’ve got to have a guest book, you’ve have to have somebody able to put down their email address because that’s a new contact, that person might forward your mail to other people, it’s good to have a little sign in stand, something that says, hey look, this is the spot, and it’s good to keep it uncluttered, this is the spot that you sign in, this is where you and I connect, I have my business cards here, which I make myself, I make them by printing out a sheet of this from my computer and photocopying it onto to card stock. I like that it’s an unusual shape, a local artist had to, happened to have left one of these things at here house, this is the perfect size for my card, it’s good to have a presentation also, flowers, preferably ones that are not dying, but we’re going to replace those today, and cards, these, if you can afford them, if you can afford to make this kind of a card like Isaac Abrams, fantastic artist who is currently at the Whitney museum and also at Microplasm, he has these beautiful cards. Or you can get a cheap kind, no big deal and this is like a mid level card, no big deal.
