Understand the Trigger Function of a .40 Caliber Semi Automatic Pistol
Okay, I am going to talk a little bit about the trigger of this 40 caliber semi automatic weapon. The trigger on this has two reset clicks so to speak or two reset positions. When you fire this firearm okay, and I will do a dry fire. Now I will just supposedly in theory if there was a round in there a round had just been fired. As I ease of the trigger you will hear one click and another click which is very click. That tells shooter that the trigger is reset and it can be fired again. You can't go from here to here and just re fire. Because the trigger, the mechanism inside has to be reset. This particular weapon system that I have here has approximately a twelve pound trigger pull. Twelve pounds really doesn't seem like a lot but with one finger it can get pretty strenuous. But with anything with practice it becomes easier and easier. So there is a twelve pound trigger pull on this weapon here once I fire that pull that trigger all the way to the rear depress it. This hammer goes down and comes home and it hits the firing pin which and again causes that round to be fired. The trigger should always pretty much be for lack of a better term caressed. As far as you shouldn't slap the trigger meaning when you fire you only want up to the first bend of a knuckle inside of a trigger. Anything over that is going to throw your shot off and the front of the gun will start doing that as you pull do to the mechanics as the way your body is made, the way your hands are made. You are not meant every time you do this the front of the gun moves which causes in essence your shot to be thrown. So having said that up to the first knuckle right on there we have our grip and we squeeze the trigger to the rear and then we release slowly till we hear a click. That is trigger control.
