So another example of a 19th century chair I want to show you today is this French chair. It's got great detail. It's the first one we showed you today. It has a nice seat, a back, with a caning. The caning is in good condition. Something to really consider when your buying a chair like this. The caning can be really expensive to do so I would keep that in mind when your thinking about buying one of these chairs. The caning like this can cost you over $100-$150 to do the top and the bottom. I wanted to show you a little bit about the construction on these chairs. You can see the pegging. I want to show you on the side is a better example that the chairs has been pegged together here on the construction. I know it's a little hard to see with the camera but this is what you want to look for. You can see there's just natural wearing on the arms. That's really a good sign that the chair has been sat in over a long period of time. So when you look for wear, this is a nice aging. You can see the pegging here, too. And on the back of the chair, you can see where the caning has been put together. I'm going to turn it around for you so you can see this is typical of 19 century. This type of the way of the construction was on this chair for putting the caning in. This is really typical and here you go again with the pegging here. This has a little construction problem where it needs to be re-glued, where the actual foot is starting to split. But it can be repaired so that's not a real problem. But, it does need to have a little bit of repair work on it. Overall it's a nice chair for the period. You'll see the carving show carving on top with a lot of detail in it with lattice cutouts in it. It has really nice detail and you can see also where the construction is put together here on either side. As you follow down on the arm, you can see the detail on the arm work and all the way down the squirreling. You have the carving around here and also when you follow it right down in proportion with the chair you can see the carving the show carving here and it carries down onto the foot. So it's nicely proportion chair. It's another example of something that you can collect from the 19th century.
