Tuning the Bottom of a Drum

Now with the tuning of the bottom head since we are not playing on it, it only really has to sound good. You don't have to make sure it feels good on the hands. So for the bottom head in general, it should be quite a bit higher than the top head. A lot of groups will use a specific pitch and say the bottom head has to be a minor 3rd interval or perfect 4th. In my tuning in general, I really don't use so much interval because we are constantly bringing the heads up or tuning on a day to day basis. So you are going to want to add a fairly high pitch, make sure it is some amount higher than the top head which it isn't right now so I will give it a few cranks again with the star pattern. Really a lot of the general pitch of the drum will come from the bottom head. Still pretty close. One more time around.
