adjusting Snare Drum Guts

Okay so there are three knobs on the snare strainer system. This one on the bottom here will adjust the height of the snare. So with this you can really raise it. Right now I am raising the snares off the drum head so right now they are not touching at all. So by tightening it is going to bring them back down and you are really going to want your snares just touching the head. You are not going to want to bring it too far down so there is a little dip on this side. Really straight across the head just touching it so that the snares can breathe. You can do the same with the other side just making sure they are going straight across. Now this knob right here will tighten or loosen the snare, so right now the snare is very loose and the more you tighten it will raise the pitch a little bit.
