How to Replace a Drum Shell

Okay now that we've wiped off all the hardware and the shell and the rim, we can carefully pick up the shell making sure that the bearing side is up and carefully place it back into the hardware making sure that you are not scratching it or any of the lugs. You are going to want to make sure that the shell is seated correctly in the rim here and then you are going to also make sure that the logo is directly in front in between the 2 tension posts. So once you've got it in there, you can run your finger around the bearing edge making sure that you've got everything off of there. You are going to want to take your petroleum jelly and get just get a little bit here on the corner of the bearing edge here. You don't really need to get this inside part. Only where the head is going to touch the wood. You can go all the way around and just make sure there is a thin film on the wood. You are really going to want to avoid any large globs of the petroleum jelly.
