Star-Pattern Lug Tuning on a Drum

Now in this step, we are going to remove the bottom head. It is going to be very similar to what we do with the top head. The one main difference is that you've got to be extremely careful especially if you wish to reuse the head. These heads are much thinner and much more sensitive and therefore will pull much faster and easier. So we are going to use the star pattern again with the lug closest to the body and to the right and I am going to give it just one small crank across the number 2 lug and over and cross again, over, same pattern through the whole drum. Now these heads are about $40 a piece so if you wish to reuse this, it is really important that you use a small crank and make sure the head doesn't stretch or pull.
