How to Clean a Drum

What you are going to want to do now is take a piece of paper towel and you can pick up the rim in one hand and you are going to want to go around on every lug and kind of just wipe it off a little bit. Even from that one lug you can see how much black stuff was on there. You are going to want to go around every lug and make sure everyone of those are just you don't have to get crazy with it make sure it is you know clean enough to eat of from but you are definitely going to want to get some of the junk off there. Okay so now what you are going to do is you are going to lubricate the lugs with some of the petroleum jelly. I'm going to teach you 2 ways to do this there is a quick way if you really don't have that much time and then there is the right way. So the quick way is you take the rim and you can just dip it in the petroleum jelly a little bit. You are only going to want to get a little bit on the end you are not going to want any large gobs because then it would start to ooze out of there. So again this is really the quick way the more correct way to do it is you are going to want to take a little bit of petroleum jelly and put in your finger and kind of work it in to the lug there evenly. You are going to want to go around all the lugs to make sure you get really as much of it that would go into the drum. This would really make it a lot easier when you are tuning the snare drum to screw these in and out it would make you work a lot less hard when you are trying to turn the drum key.
