What we are going to do now is we are going to completely remove the top or batter head from the snare drum. So like we discuss before we are going to use the star pattern we are going to start in the number one lug which is closes to the body to the right. So we are going to place the drum key on there, give it about 2 counterclockwise cranks about 30 degrees each. When you start to do this you are going to want to use less cranks either 1 or 2 so that you don't pull the drum head. When you get a little loose tension on the head you can really start to use a larger crank or more cranks on each lug. For instance right now on this lug there is really no tension so you can really just give this key a spin and get it off of there as fast as possible. That is one great thing about these larger drum keys as oppose to the smaller ones you can really give these a really good spin it really saves you a lot of time rather then you know really doing each individual crank.
