Techniques to Prevent Distraction in Kids' Theater Class

Hi, we’re back and this is Paul Louis and this is my assistant Haley here. We are going to demonstrate some theater games and we are going to continue now with a game that helps the child not be distracted on stage. A lot of times when you are doing a scene, you have to rename in one particular mode while other things may be going on around you; sometimes a lot of crazy silly things so Haley is going to stand right here and she is going to look straight ahead and she is going to be very serious with a very serious face. She is not going to crack a smile. What I’m going to do is I’m going to try to make her laugh. Okay. The rule is you can’t touch her and you can’t violate her personal space so you can’t put your fingers up in her face but you can be close to them. She laughed. Let’s see how serious you can be. Okay? Show them out there how serious you can be. Like this. Do you know a great way to do that Haley? Think of something very serious. Okay? Look straight ahead. FUNNY NOISES! It’s not working. She is remaining very serious so if she was in a scene where there were a lot of crazy things happening all around her and she had remained in one particular emotional state like that, then Haley could successfully do this scene. Pretty good Haley. Now I’m going to make you laugh. There you go. We will be right back.
