This is Alex, my lovely assistant, and he's going to be helping us to see how the different kind of herbs will effect you. We're gonna start with the muscles. The muscles are also called mucilaginous and that means they're kind of slimy, demulcents are kind of slimy. This is an Aloe Vera plant and how many people have used Aloe Vera on their sunburns or have heard to use Aloe Vera on their sunburns. Or keep it in their kitchen as a burn protection or a burn healing. Because demulcents and mucilaginous herbs are healing and soothing. They are wet and cold. They soothe fire, they soothe heat, they're very healing and calming and let me show you how they look. I hate to really break a piece off of this but, see how slimy that is, see that? This is psyllium powder and I'm gonna put a couple of spoonfuls of psyllium powder in this water and then I stir it up and I'm gonna leave it sit here for just a second while we're talking about it. Mucilaginous demulcent herbs, they are healing, they're soothing, they're cooling, they make protein fall out of solution so if you have a bug bit a mosquito bite and you put a little on there it will instantly stop the itching, stop the pain, stop whatever is going on with that. If you can see what's happened to this, it's a big globby mess now and that's what happens with mucilaginous herbs, they're very mucilaginous. We're just gonna give him a little bite of this here and he can tell us how it feels in his mouth. It's goopy, It's slimy, it's wet, yes, cooling, yes. And that is what demulcent herbs do. So if you have a problem that's hot and dry you want a cool wet demulcent herb.
